Dawn looked to the sky. The summer sun blazed overhead, making the whole forest dry and uncomfortable. She turned her head to look at the person next to her. His black hair seemed to illuminate in the rays. “ I don’t know if we’ll get there on time… We only have two more days to cross the whole country,” She looked up again. “ I don’t even know if we will get out of this forest…” The man next to her sighed and wrote something down. “ You know, this wouldn’t be happening if you didn’t lose your sword…” She read on the paper, quickly turning to him. “ I wasn’t the one to lose the sword! I recall it was YOU were the one playing with it, Sam!” she snapped at him. She reached into the bag on Sam’s back. Dawn pulled out a canteen, but it was empty. “ We’ve run out of water too…” She slapped the back of his head. “Why did you have to go out and give my sword to your untrained HawkDog! That thing couldn’t fetch a stick if you threw it 3 inches away from it!” She shook her head. “ Too late for scolding you. Our first priority must be catching your little friend. Which means getting out of this forest!”

The trees seemed to mock Dawn as she walked with Sam to the edge of a lake.  “Finally! After all these hours without water! A lake!” Dawn shouted as she water. “ Water!” Sam followed and stopped her from going near the water. He shook his head and pointed at the center of the lake. A lone, large shape swam in circles. “ What’s that?!?” Dawn shouted. The large figure burst from the water and gazed downward at the two small people. “ Humans! Get away from my lake!” It bellowed as Dawn and Sam realized it was a lake dragon. “ If only I had my sword…” Dawn glared at Sam. He backed up and pulled out a whistle. He blew into it and it made no sound. A shape appeared in the sky, carrying something shiny…

Dawn looked at the figure. “ My sword!” She said as the figure dropped the blade into her hands. The blade shined golden in the sunlight. Sam tied a rope around the creature. It had a Hawk’s wings and back feet, but it’s face and front paws were furry like a dog. Dawn spun her blade in the sky. It’s golden blade turned to neon yellow as the handle turned from red to gray. “ Let’s go dragon! One on one!” Dawn yelled as she jumped up to hit the dragon’s head.
